Biography
Altaïr was born on 11 January 1165 to assassin parent a Christian mother, Maud, and a Muslim father, Umar Ibn-La'Ahad. Whereas Maud passed on in childbirth, Umar was executed by the Saracens amid the Attack of Masyaf in 1176, in reprisal for him slaughtering a Saracen aristocrat.
Altaïr quickly called out to his father some time recently the execution, but was avoided from seeing his father's passing by Ahmad Sofian, the assassin who had uncovered Umar's title to the Saracens beneath torment. Smashed by blame over Umar's passing, Ahmad afterward invaded Altaïr's quarters, apologized for his shortcoming, and committed suicide with a dagger.Altaïr ran to Al Mualim's quarters with flurry, inform him of what had happened.
Al Mualim told Altaïr not to reveal anything almost the occurrence to anybody, not indeed to Ahmad's child Abbas, who would be disgraced by the truth of his father's passing. Altaïr considered Al Mualim as more of a father figure than his biological father, in spite of the fact that he was mindful that Al Mualim's adore was "powerless and dishonest," and concurred to do as the Guide commanded. Altaïr and Abbas joined the ordo as novice before long after, developing up together and getting to be great companions, continuously at each other's side.
One day, after noticing Abbas' continued grief over his father's death, Altaïr told him the truth in an attempt to comfort him. Hearing this, Abbas went to bed without saying a word. The next day, the two did not speak again until Abbas asked his combat instructor Labib if they could fight with real swords, instead of the wooden training swords.
It was then that Abbas revealed his hatred towards Altair, believing him to have lied about Ahmad, before attacking him in anger. As the two fought, Abbas held a knife to Altaïr's throat and shouted that Altaïr had lied about Abbas' father to embarrass him. The noise attracted the attention of the other assassin, the villagers and Al Mualim himself.
To appease Abbas' anger, Altaïr falsely admits to lying, and the two are sent to Masyaf's dungeon. They spent a month in detention before resuming their training. Since his crimes were considered more serious, Abbas was forced by Al Mualim to spend an additional year in training, while Altair was given the rank of assassin.
Rose to master assassin
In 1189, Masyaf was attacked and overrun by Templars, aided by their double agent Haras. Riding his horse into the village and rescuing[6] his fellow Assassin Faisal,[7] Altaïr led the injured man to a bench before meeting with Abbas. Abbas claimed that the Assassins had to fall back and could do nothing for Al Mualim, who was detained in the fortress along with several other Assassin hostages. Altaïr, however, gave Abbas orders to flank the Templars and lead them into the canyon while Altaïr himself rescued Al Mualim.
Altaïr made his way to the fortress, killing Templar soldiers and rescuing villagers along the way. Upon arriving at the fortress' gates, Altaïr was greeted by Haras. Taunting the Assassin, Haras closed the gates behind him and went to execute the captured Assassins inside the courtyard with a crossbow.
Locked out, Altaïr climbed some scaffolding and reached the top of the fortress walls. From there, he ran along the battlements, jumped onto the tiled roof of a balcony, and assassinated Haras from above. With his dying words, Haras expressed his disillusion with the Creed, believing that the Assassins put too much faith in humanity; Altaïr tried to convince him otherwise, but failed as Haras passed away, his beliefs unchanged.
Event at assassin creed
Third Crusade
A year later, the Holy Land was in full war.In July 1191, Altaïr and his companions Malik and Kadar Al-Sayf were tasked with retrieving a Templar artifact from the vault of Jerusalem beneath the ruins of Solomon's Temple. While advancing through the catacombs, Altaïr broke the first principle of Assassin's Creed by killing an innocent in their path.
Malik scolds Altaïr for his recklessness, but Altaïr arrogantly dismisses him.Seeing the sworn enemy of his Order, Robert de Sable, Altaïr broke the second principle of the Creed by directly confronting his enemy. Attempting to kill the Grand Master, Altaïr was easily defeated and thrown out of the temple, leaving Malik and Kadar alone with the Templars. Altaïr fled the temple and returned to Masyaf to report his failure to Al Mualim.
Siege of masyaf
Arriving at Masyaf, Altaïr was greeted kindly by Rauf, who told him that Al Mualim was expecting a report on the mission. At the castle gates, Abbas and Altair exchanged insults before Altair went to Al Mualim's office, informing Mentor of his failure to retrieve the Templar treasure. Soon after, Malik returned with the artifact, alive but alone and with a badly injured left arm.
He raised Altaïr, accusing him of Kadar's death, but before taking further action, they reported that Masyaf was under siege.Altaïr and several other assassins came to the defense of the country, including the attack of the Templars. Although initially successful, allowing the villagers to escape to the fort, they were quickly overwhelmed; Altair plans to stay and fight until he is defeated, thus atoning for his actions in Solomon's temple.
However, he decided that this would be a waste of his skills and retreated to the castle with the other Assassins. While Al Mualim distracted Sablé, Altaïr, Rauf and another assassin each took a Leap of Faith from the castle tower and slipped behind the Templar army. Altaïr threw a supply of cut logs at the soldiers, crushing many of them and driving them out of Masyaf.
After the attack was over, the question of Altaïr's actions in the Temple of Solomon came back. It was decreed that, violating the three principles of the Creed (because his actions brought the Templars to Masyaf and endangered the Brotherhood), Altaïr was considered a traitor to the Assassins. After pronouncing his judgment on the entire Order, Al Mualim stabbed Altaïr in the gut with his personal jambiya
Hunt for The Nine
Altaïr awoke from the "sleep of the dead" and questioned Al Mualim about his survival, with the Mentor replying that Altaïr had only seen what he wanted to see. He then stripped Altaïr of his rank and possessions before offering him a chance at redemption, asking him to find the traitor within Masyaf who had let the Templars in.After Altair successfully completed the mission, he returned to Al Mualim and was rewarded with the restoration of his Secret Blade and sword. Now an official member of the Order, Altaïr was offered a job: kill nine men from the ranks of the Saracens and Crusaders, taking their lives in exchange for his.
Altaïr began his quest, leaving Masyaf and traveling to Damascus in pursuit of Tamir, his first target. Once there, he went to the local office of the Assassins and asked for permission to kill him. The native Rafiq refused permission, ordering Altaïr to gather information about his goal first. Traveling through the city's slums, Altaïr interrogated informants, stole letters and cards, and listened in on conversations around him, eventually locating his target. After returning to the office with this information, he was given a pass for the kill and a white feather to dip in the victim's blood as proof of the act.
In a square in the market district, Altaïr saw Tamir kill a business associate, then killed him while examining the nearby benches. Back at the office, Altaïr was tasked with reporting to Al Mualim, who rewarded him by returning another piece of his equipment. Altaïr then left for Acre and Jerusalem to pursue his next objectives.
Assassination (Garnier de Naplouse)
While traveling to Acre, Altaïr met with the head of his office, Jabal, to gather information about his target: Garnier of Nablus, Grand Master of the Hospital of the Knights. Learning that Garnier was in the hospital and that he was trafficking people to Acre to experiment on them, Altaïr infiltrated the hospital.
He found one of Garnier's prisoners trying to escape. After the man was captured, Garnier ordered his guards to break the prisoner's legs to prevent him from escaping again. Garnier then went back to his routine of checking on patients and was shot by Altaïr. With his last breath, Garnier revealed that he had been using the Apple of Eden to conduct his experiments, but after losing it, his progress had slowed down. He was also convinced that he was helping the people he was experimenting with, causing Altaïr to question his opinion of Garnier's actions.
Assassination (Talal)
Arriving at the Jerusalem office, Altaïr was greeted harshly by Malik, his new boss. Reluctantly, Malik sent Altaïr to investigate and welcomed him back upon his return. After receiving permission for the assassination and the feather, Altaïr entered the slave compound of his target, Talal. After entering the building, Altaïr was ambushed by Talal's followers as the slave escaped. As they advanced, Altaïr chased Talal across rooftops and streets, finally catching him and planting a Secret Blade in his neck. Although Malik criticized Altaïr's stealthy approach, he was well received upon his return to Al Mualim. Taking another piece of his equipment, Altaïr was again sent to three cities to kill new targets.
Altaïr returned to Damascus to eliminate Abu'l Nuqoud, known as the "Merchant King". After investigating and obtaining a feather from the town's Rafik, he went to the merchant's palace where a feast was being held.
Infiltrating the party, Altaïr arrived as Abu'l began to give a speech thanking his guests for the visit. However, he soon began to reproach them for their intolerance and ignorance, and then discovered that he had poisoned the wine that was served to them. As a number of revelers succumbed to the poison, Abu'l ordered his archers to eliminate the rest.
In the crowd's panic, Altaïr scaled the palace walls, killing several archers in the process, and climbed onto the roof. Jumping and killing the Merchant King's bodyguard, Altaïr followed and killed his target, putting the city on alert before escaping and reporting to the Bureau.
In Acre, Altaïr was accused of the murder of william of Montferrat, regent of the city and lieutenant of Richard of lionheart. Altaïr gathered information about his target in the wealthy part of the city and learned that William was expected to meet King Richard later that day.Approaching the city fort while William and Richard argued outside, Altaïr waited for the king to leave before scaling the fortress walls. He found William inside, berating his men for their apparent failures; when william chased them away, Altaïr swooped down from above, killing the Marquis.
In Jerusalem, Altaïr found his sixth target, Majd Addin; the illegitimate ruler of the city, he personally acted as judge, jury and executioner within its walls. During a public execution, Altair fought his way through the crowd and onto the stage where Addin was standing, killing him and rescuing an imprisoned murderer.
Escaping from the guards, Altaïr returned to Masyaf.Rewarded with another rank and additional equipment, Altaïr asked Al Mualim what the connection between his objectives was. Al Mualim explained that the nine were members of the Templars and that the treasure that Malik had freed from Robert de Sable was a Fragment of Eden, an object that had the power to control the minds of others. Satisfied with this new information and recognizing that the Templars could not be allowed to possess the Piece of Eden, Altaïr set off again towards Acre and Damascus.
Assassination (Sibrand)
Altaïr's seventh target, Sibrand, was the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights and paranoid in fear of the assassin who had been stalking his Templar brothers. After reporting Jabal to the Bureau of Acre and investigating, Altaïr traveled to the city's harbors, where he saw Sibrand accuse a scholar of being an assassin before killing him.
After that, Sibrand retired to his ship and started shooting the birds with arrows.Altaïr went to the harbors and anchored the ships, reaching Sibrand's ship and killing him. As he died, Sibrand revealed that he didn't believe in faith and that the Piece of Eden was all the proof he needed that there was no such thing as an afterlife, the real reason he feared death.
In Damascus, Jubair al Hakim, Saladin's chief of staff, had begun burning all the books in the city in an attempt to erase the country's history. After going to the office, Altaïr gathered the information, took his box and prepared to kill.
Jubair had many followers, all dressed exactly like him to prevent assassination attempts; however, Altaïr's previous investigations had revealed Jubeir's location and what he looked like. Soon after, the scholar joined his fellow Templars in death, and Altaïr escaped the city's guards to announce his success to Rafiq.
Arriving at the cemetery, Altaïr hides among the crowd. However, he was soon spotted and ambushed by the Templars, who had anticipated his arrival. Engaging the Templars and Saracen guards in battle, he fought them one by one. During this fight, several Templars were accidentally shot by their archers while the latter attempted to shoot Altaïr, and de Sablé ordered his men to cease fire; To his surprise, he realized that the voice was not that of the Grand Master in French, but that of an English woman. Immediately curious, he hit the bait and removed his rudder, but was surprised to see the truth.
His shock soon subsided when he learned that it was only a diversion, intended to keep him away while de Sable went to Arsuf in the hope of uniting the Saracens and the Crusaders against the assassins.Altaïr spared his life, as he was not his target, and returned to the office to reveal the trick to Malik. Malik suggested that it would be better to return to Masyaf and explain to Al Mualim about these developments, but Altaïr refused, stating that they were in time to stop de Sable.
He accused Malik of hiding behind the Creed and refusing to see what he did not want to see, and suggested that he seek answers in Solomon's Temple. With that, Altaïr left the city and went to Arsuf.
Battle of Arsuf
When Altaïr reached Arsuf, the engagement between the Crusader and Saracen forces had already begun. Fighting his way through the battlefield, Altaïr arrived at Richard's camp and was accused of trying to kill the king. Denying this, Altaïr informed the king of Sablé's betrayal. Although Robert denied the accusations, the king was not convinced.Leaving the decision to God, Richard ordered a battle trial between Altair and Robert to establish the truth.
Altaïr fought against Robert and his Templar elites, defeating them and stabbing the Grand Master in the throat. In his last breaths, de Sable revealed that Al Mualim was himself a Templar and that Altaïr had been an unwitting hostage in his quest to capture the Apple. Richard then congratulated the assassin on his success and the two men briefly discussed their views on peace before Richard allowed Altaïr to leave Arsuf. Altaïr rushed after Masyaf to discover the truth about his Master.
Retaking Masyaf
Arriving in Masyaf, Altaïr found the villagers in a trance, claiming that Al Mualim had "brought him to the light". Advancing up the mountain towards the citadel, Altaïr encountered a group of hypnotized assassins who, at the behest of Al Mualim, attacked him. Having no other choice, Altaïr engaged them in battle and managed to kill them all. However, another wave of assassins entered the fray, greatly outnumbered and threatening to overwhelm him.
Fortunately, Malik and several intact assassins arrived and helped Altaïr throw knives at his attackers, killing some and sending them fleeing. When he met with Malik, Altaïr asked him to distract the hypnotized assassins outside the fortress, giving access to Al Mualim, and advised him to avoid killing them if possible, since his mind was not not his own.
Accepting his request, Malik and his men allow Altair to infiltrate the castle.Seeking his Master in the garden of the castle called "Paradise", Altaïr found himself captured and bound by the power of the Apple. Seeing Al Mualim on a balcony above him, he asked for an explanation. Al Mualim later revealed that he had used Apple to end the Crusades by eliminating their leaders. He had also taken control of people's minds to gain their obedience, thus ensuring absolute peace.
Al Mualim then used the Apple's power to create illusions of the nine Templars that Altaïr had killed. After the defeats, Altaïr was again bound by the power of the Apple, and Al Mualim confronts him personally, creating several copies of him to help him in his fight. Faced with this second illusion, Altaïr goes on the defensive, knocking them down as they attack one by one.
As Altaïr had finally chosen his Master, Al Mualim bound him again. He explained that although he sought peace like Robert, he wanted the Apple for himself, and therefore the Templar must die. He also explained that he tried to use the Apple to force Altaïr to obey, but failed due to Altaïr's mental strength.
Al Mualim also revealed how the Piece of Eden was able to perform all the miracles of stories, myths and legends: they were only illusions. When Altaïr stated that his plan to create a New World Order was yet another illusion, Al Mualim responded by saying that it was no less an illusion than how the world is today: a world where people kill each other without rest.
the name of the "craven gods" who abandoned the world eon ago and who only give people a better illusion without bloodshed. Altaïr said that at least man chooses to believe in these gods, but Al Mualim replied that the occasional convert or heretic would disagree. When Altaïr shouted that this was false, Al Mualim sighed in frustration, seeing that he was letting emotion over logic. Al Mualim finally said that they had reached an impasse; he wouldn't give in to his plan, Altaïr didn't want to join him, and he couldn't force the Slayer to follow him. Sighing that he would miss Altaïr, Al Mualim ended the Apple's hold on Altaïr, drew his sword, and he and Altaïr engaged in a final duel to the death. After a long battle, Altaïr was able to defeat his Master and wound him to death with his Secret Blade.
After Al Mualim spoke his last words, challenging Altaïr's strength of character and ability to destroy the Apple, the Piece of Eden spun from his lifeless hand and activated. Standing in front of a large holographic image projected from the orb, Altaïr was quickly joined by Malik and his men and together they surveyed the projection: a world map showing the location of other parts of Eden.
Personality
Intelligent and devoted, Altaïr was passionate about the pursuit of knowledge. He realized that future ages would have no place for the traditions of Masyaf and modified his practices accordingly. His wisdom and leadership will be crucial in ensuring the continuity of the Assassin Order. After acquiring the Apple of Eden, Altaïr realized its potential to greatly aid the Assassins, but also to lead them to destruction.
His use of the Apple was initially minimal, only using the knowledge he gained from it to create new inventions for the benefit of the Order, but as he grew older, he began to rely over and over the artifact, developing an obsession with it.
partly because of Apple's seductive nature. After the death of his wife and youngest son and his exile from Masyaf, Altaïr fell into a deep depression and began to look to the Apple for guidance, eventually evicting his only remaining family.
Skill
Altaïr was a master assassin, capable of incredible acrobatics and skilled in the application of the deadly arts. Highly trained, he was able to overcome any obstacle, human or terrestrial, climb the tallest towers and jump from the highest ledges without the slightest trace of fear.[9] Like other assassins, he was also trained in stealth assassination techniques, hand-to-hand combat and weapons, and blade throwing.
His non-combat skills include rock climbing, urban acrobatics, auditioning, interrogation, and pickpocketing. He also had extensive knowledge of the politics and religion of the Holy Land, which helped him better understand his opponents.
Altaïr also possesses Eagle Vision, a "sixth sense" or intuition that allows him to see a person's true intentions. With this gift, Altaïr has enhanced intuitive abilities and senses, as well as combat skills. Altaïr's abilities made him one of the deadliest and most skilled Assassins in the Order's history, and they remained legendary even after his death.
